Evergreat Investment and Company Limited is the holder of the large-scale mining license No. 28235-HQ-LEL to limestone quarry in the Palabana area of Chongwe District. The company has been practising small scale mining of the same mineral in the area and now intends to expand their operations through large scale mining and hence this Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. The developer previously obtained ZEMA approval for the small-scale exploration of limestone in the same area on the 05th November 2024.

Prior to exercising the right to quarry, Evergreat has committed to complying with requirements for the environmental and social impact assessment, in line with Zambian legislation. Evergreat appointed Azurite Consulting to prepare the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Report to fulfil the requirements of Zambia’s Environmental Management Regulations. The EIA Report is a comprehensive assessment of impacts that could occur throughout the life cycle of the proposed mining project and it recommends measures to prevent and mitigate these impacts.
