EIS – PROPOSED LARGE MINING ACTIVITIES ON LICENCE NO.26169-HQ-LEL IN CHIEF CHEMBE CHIEFDOM OF RUFUNSA AND LUANO DISTRICTS BY CABRAL MINING MINERALS LIMITED

Cabral Mining Minerals Limited is a Zambian registered private company that was incorporated on 5th February, 2020. The company has been in existence for some years and its directors have a vast experience in the mining industry. Cabral Mining Minerals Limited is proposing to conduct Mining activities on a large-scale license No. 26169-HQ-LEL within an area of 8711.56 hectares. The exploration works have already been conducted and are still being conducted. These works involved various techniques such as geophysical surveys, core drilling, and test mining to evaluate the potential value of the site before proceeding with mining activities. Based on the results of the exploration works, it was determined that the site contained valuable mineral resources and was economically viable for mining. It is important to note that ongoing assessments are still required to ensure sustainable mining operations and compliance with environmental regulations.
In line with the provisions of the Environmental Management (Amendment) Act No. 8 of 2023 as read with the EMA No.12 of 2011 and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations SI No. 28 of 1997, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the proposed Open Pit Mine and mineral processing project by Cabral Mining Minerals Limited has been prepared and the company has engaged Tsalach Global Limited to undertake the ESIA study on their behalf. The ESIA of the project will involve incorporating views, concerns and contributions from interested and affected parties (stakeholders). Site location suitability studies for the project within the project area, hydrological studies, socio-economic studies and ecological surveys of the project area will be conducted to determine the feasible design
of the proposed project.
