EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

BACKGROUND

Masansa Power Company Limited proposes to develop a 58.5 MWp (45 MWAC) ground-mounted, gridconnected
solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Lubambala Ward, Mpika District. The total system output shall
include an additional 10 MW of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to support the renewable energy
option during nighttime and on cloudy days. The proposed site for the project is located approximately 7
km from the town of Mpika in the Muchinga Province of Zambia. The area covers approximately 50 hectares
and has a central coordinate of latitude -11.875 and longitude 31.405 (326318″S, 8687107″E UTM
