MOIL Energies is one of East Africa’s largest Oil Marketing Companies (OMC), with companies set up in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia. Being one of the largest operators in East Africa, MOIL Energies supplies fuel to multiple companies within Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia as well as overall within East and Central Africa. Moil Energies Zambia Limited intend to upgrade their existing fuel storage facility to a fuel depot with a capacity of 1,000,000litres from 200,000 litres above ground level storage with an accompanying fuel service station. The project will involve the installation of an additional 800,000litres on F/692/P/2 in Barlastone, Kasupe area of Chilanga district, Lusaka province, Zambia. In compliance with the Environmental Management Act No. 12 of 2011 as amended by the Environmental Management (Amendment Act) No. 8 of 2023, read together with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (SI No. 28 of 1997), and international best practices, Moil Energies Zambia Limited is therefore undertaking an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and subsequently prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for submission to the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA).
