Zambia has over the years seen increased mining activities. From the time of the liberalized economy in 1991 and the implementation of the 1995 Mining Policy through to the current Mineral Resources Development Policy of 2013, the Zambia has continued to experience increased participation in the mining sector with players in mineral exploration and exploitation. Copper is one of the most mined mineral deposits by big mines in the Copperbelt and Northwest province. The exploration activities to check for the presence the mineral in other parts of the country has been conducted in provinces such as central and Lusaka province. Copper ore prospection has yielded interesting results in these provinces, as a result copper ore exploitation are yet to commence in these areas.
