Project Background
Kitumba Copper Mine Project is a large-scale copper mining, beneficiation and metallurgy project, under mining license No. 19820-HQ-LML held by Sinomine Kitumba Minerals Company Limited (SKM). This large-scale mining license which covers an area of 2,491.7978 hectares is located in Mumbwa District in Central Province. The mine has proven copper resource of 27.9 million tonnes and average copper grade of 2.20 %.

The project will involve abstraction and transportation of water from the Kafue River to the Sinomine
Kitumba Minerals (SKM) project in Kaindu Chiefdom in Mumbwa District of the Central Province of the Republic of Zambia.
Objectives of the Project
The objective of the proposed project is to construct a pipeline for abstracting water from the Kafue River at coordinates 492692.11E ;840791.21N to SKM in Kaindu Chiefdom in the Mumbwa District for purposes of supplying the integrated mining and processing project
