EIS – Proposed New Shafts Sinking Project 7061-HQ-LML, Konkola Chililabombwe

This is the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the New Shafts Sinking Project proposed by Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (Lubambe). Lubambe Mine comprises of an underground mine focusing on the exploitation of the resources in the South and East limbs in 7061-HQ-LML. Workings are currently at 560 metres below ground level (mbgl) though the ore body extends to a depth of 1000 mbgl. The underground mine workings are accessed via the Konkola No. 2 Vertical Shaft and East Decline Shaft. The mining method is longitudinal room and pillar mining using a fully mechanized fleet operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
