EIS –  Proposed Construction Of A 12km Underground High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Water Pipeline From Lake Kariba To Ezra Energy Ltd Power Generation Plant In Chief Sinazongwe chiefdom, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province Of Zambia By Ezra Energy Limited

Project Overview

Ezra Energy Limited (EEL) is undertaking a strategic infrastructure project in Sinazongwe District,
Republic of Zambia, to support its integrated energy generation operations. The project involves
the construction of a 12-kilometre High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) underground water pipeline
from Lake Kariba to the Ezra Energy Limited thermal and solar power generation plant. This
pipeline is a critical utility infrastructure designed to supply essential cooling and operational water
to EEL’s hybrid power facility, which combines coal-fired and solar technologies.
The initiative aligns with Zambia’s broader goals of energy security and infrastructure
modernization. By securing a reliable and sustainable water supply from Lake Kariba, the project
supports uninterrupted power generation and reduces dependence on unpredictable local water
sources. The underground pipeline route has been carefully planned to minimize surface disruption,
avoid ecologically sensitive areas, and ensure operational efficiency.
