Waste Management

A Waste Management Licence is a document issued by ZEMA that allow a person to reclaim, re-use, recover, recycle, transport, dispose of, transit, trade in, export waste or collect and dispose of waste from industrial, commercial, domestic or community activities or own, construct or operate a waste disposal site or facility for the permanent disposal or storage of waste.

  2. Proof of consultations with residents in area surrounding proposed licence area
  3. Policy, procedures and plans for technical capacity, facilities and governance structures.
  4. National Registration Card (NRC)
  5. Insurance
  6. Environmental Management Plan(s)
  7. Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans
  8. EIA Report
  9. Documentary proof that the residents of the area surrounding the proposed waste disposal site were notified of the applicant’s intention to apply for waste management licence in a daily newspaper of general circulation in Zambia, after seven days from the date of the notification.
  10. Description of the site(s) or facility(ies), including capacity, estimated life span (attach details of site plan, design and layout of different facilities)

  12. Cover Letter to the Director General (from Transferor, expressing intent to transfer the Licence)
  13. Cover Letter to the Director General (from Transferee, accepting the transfer of the Licence)
  14. Cover Letter
  15. Company Registration Certificate
  16. Certified Copy of Qualification of a Person Responsible for Compliance with the Act and the Conditions of the Licence
  17. Certificate of Incorporation of the Company

1. Click on the [Apply for Service] button.

2. Complete all sections of the application form; go through the process by clicking the “Next” button.

3. Once the application form is complete, preview and digitally sign it using the PIN code given to you when you registered your ZamPass account.

4. Pay the Invoice online, by selecting your preferred method of payment, receive the Payment Receipt and Action Notice with further instructions.

5. If self-service, receive your certificate instantly; if operator-assisted, you will receive a notification when the review is finished or when you can visit the office to pick up the document.

Note: If your application is denied, you will receive an Action Notice explaining the grounds of denial and the procedure for appeal.
